New scholarship programme strengthens collaboration in cultural heritage

Nuffic announces the launch of the Cultural Heritage scholarship programme. This initiative, funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is designed to empower young professionals from Indonesia, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Suriname, and South Africa to enhance their knowledge of cultural heritage management.

The programme, which will financially support 15-20 selected participants, focuses on promoting knowledge and skills related to provenance research, heritage restitution, and the management and organisation of exhibitions and collections. Hereby the Netherlands offers a valuable opportunity for participants to gain expertise in studying and managing (returned) cultural heritage.

The first scholarships will be awarded in the spring of 2024, with selected students commencing their master’s programme in September 2024. The offered specialisations include programmes such as Applied Museum and Heritage Studies, Colonial and Global History or Cultural History and Heritage, and other related fields that closely align with the needs of the participating countries.
